Body and chassis reunited (February 2007)

February 2007 saw the momentous day when the Beetle‘s body shell and chassis were brought back together. The shell was very carefully raised on a car lift, and oh-so-gently lowered onto the rolling chassis.

Here's a huge, indulgent collection of photos of the body shell making its way towards the chassis. There's a lot of them, but it was a major event.

And there you have it: body shell securely bolted to floor. Hurray !

Here's the car at the end of the day; recognisably a Beetle, but with some obvious parts still to be installed.
