The body shell had to be offered up against the floor on numerous occasions, to ensure that the overall shape was still that of a Beetle.
Beetle heater channels are very prone to corrosion caused by the twin evils of salted roads, and condensation due to warm air meeting cold metal. It was no surprise to find that the offside channel was rusted beyond redemption, and had to be replaced.
The spare wheel well also occupies a vulnerable position near the road, and number 250's needed to be replaced.
