Additional information:
This LEB first came to our attention in 2001, when 11th (!) owner Dave joined our Register. At the time it was black and yellow in colour and in need of TLC. Over the next 3 years, some work was undertaken, including installation of a new engine. In June 2004 Boris (as the bug was named at the time) was tipped over onto his side and badly damaged by yobs after England crashed out of Euro 2004. The insurance company agree to pay for the damage so with a considerable injection of cash from Dave, Boris was restored to his former glory, and his original Silver.
We lost track of the car for a while, but it eventually showed up again in Ireland, with a new registration number. Sadly, in May 2020, it was on the receiving end of a tractor accident. It was parked in a barn minding its own business when a large agricultural machine smashed through the wall and wrecked the unfortunate Beetle. It was written off, and dismantled for parts.
