This Last Edition Beetle was supplied new on 22nd August 1978 by Fenns of Burton, VW Dealer, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England to Mr E. Lakin and was registered with registration number AFP921T.
Over the following 38 years, the car has had 6 owners, 3 changes of registration numbers and has travelled 96,000 miles in the UK. During that time, the car also had a complete restoration and is now in pristine condition. The engine is in healthy condition.
Now the car is into its 39th year and has started a complete new chapter in its life - it has emigrated to The Emerald Isle, Ireland. Its present owner, while searching for a Classic Car in the UK in October 2016, came upon and fell in love with AFP921T. Arrangements were made to export the car from the UK and import it into Ireland. The car now has an Irish Registration No. in Co. Mayo, Ireland, namely, 78 MO 10002. This reg. no. indicates its age ( '78 for first registration in 1978 ), its county of domicile in Ireland ( MO for Mayo ). It felt appropriate to give the car a name, so "MoBee", for "Mayo Beetle", was agreed upon.
MoBee has joined the Western Veteran and Vintage Motor Club, based in the West of Ireland, and the Automobile Association of Ireland, so will be participating in many touring events throughout Ireland in the future.

2021 update
I continue to be the proud owner of LEB registration number 78MO10002 and enjoy driving it around Ireland. Since I purchased it I have driven it in the following counties : Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Cork, Carlow and Kildare. As I live in Co.Mayo, most of the journeys tend to be around Mayo. I have not made any modifications to "MoBee" (Mayo Beetle) and it continues to provide endless driving enjoyment. My daughter got married in December 2019 and she insisted in travelling to the church in MoBee ! I was a proud father driving her to the church and walking her up the aisle !
I hope to keep MoBee for as long as I can.
