Bought as a 50th present for Sarah and I from a couple in Canvey Island, Essex on 24th May 2018. Original owner ran a VW dealership and bought the car for his wife with a documented newspaper article found within the accompanying paperwork. We are a VW air-cooled family through and through, currently owning a 1979 Bay Window as well in the past, several Beetles, a Type 3 Fastback and a Karmann Ghia Convertible Volksworld Show winner. We have both also owned a New Beetles, a hatchback and a Cabriolet. Bertie will be given a proper makeover that it deserves over the next few years.

Light restoration planned for 2021:
Rear decklid has rusted out along the bottom lip; purchased a new decklid from VW Heritage, just needs prepping and painting.
Front bumper is pitted with rust spots; purchased a new front bumper from VW Heritage, just needs fitting.
Both doors need a little TLC along the bottom edge, nothing major. Body work has scratches here and there; just needs a little bit of prep work and T-Cut.
Rear seat needs to be recovered as the Marine Blue velour is heavily sun-faded and brittle. Front seats are "ok" but will look to get re-upholstered as a full interior. Just need to find the closest match to the original material.
Full carpet set throughout.
MOT and servicing, ready for Spring/Summer !

Update 27th March 2023
We are finally getting LEB164 on the road again. Have fitted a new front bumper and a set of original EMPI/Lemmerz Sprintstar alloys. Am refreshing the front brakes and front suspension this week. Also priming and painting scratches in the paintwork. Then the rear brakes/suspension over Easter.
