We last heard of this car when it was sold by Bonhams
. The auction catalogue described it thus:
An unrestored and original example in superb condition, the car offered here is one of 300 ‘Last Edition’ model Beetles sold in the UK in 1978. As the name implies, these 300 cars were the last German-built Beetles destined for the UK market. All were of identical specification, with the 1,200cc engine and the same silver paintwork and blue interior. Although the V5 shows four previous keepers, the substantial history file indicates that this car was retained from new by a Volkswagen dealer until 1996, when it was sold to a lady who used it for summer transport and showed it regularly at classic vehicle shows, achieving many class wins. The Beetle was then sold in 2002 to the current vendor, who has continued to cherish the car, using it only in good weather. The car had a (documented) change of speedometer at 16,241 miles while the new unit currently reads 20,380 miles, making the total mileage from new only 36,621. Regularly serviced and Waxoyled, this car is presented in beautiful condition throughout and offered with current road fund licence, MoT to August 2009 and Swansea V5. ‘KDN 460S’ is registered with the active Last Edition Beetle Register and comes with the aforementioned history file, magazine feature, spare wheel, tools and manuals plus the original speedometer unit.
